Where does the carbon in the carbon-dioxide we breath out come from?

The most common carbohydrate that you receive in your food is glucose which is made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Your body breaks down this molecule for energy which in the process releases CO2, the CO2 diffuses into the blood which travels to the lungs where the CO2 can be taken out of the bloodstream.
