Why are my mental problems so bad?

I have went through a lot of stuff. Like cutting seeing things hearing things. Counseling I was d by my female baby sitter when I was 6 I have it in my head that I was abducted by aliens. I've been in and out of treatment and go to counseling 3 times a week. I don't know what to do to get my mental problems to not be so bad any more.
