Can a muslim EVER love a non-muslim by actually following the Quran?

The question should be, can a Muslim love anybody? From the way they're slaughtering each other in Iraq, I have to believe they're incapable of anything except hate. Sunnis killing Schites. Schites slaughtering Sunnis. Kurds killing everybody. What a mess, and they're not supposed to kill anyone except non-believers. With them, anything goes. What a great bunch of people!
